Christian Education We offer many opportunities for Christian Education here at First Presbyterian Church for both children and adults. We have a staff of dedicated volunteers who lovingly help us all grow in our faith. During the services on Sunday morning we offer an infant-toddler nursery where the children are able to safely play while their parents are enjoying the service. Children in kindergarten through 5th grade leave the adult service after the children's sermon and participate in their own Sunday service upstairs in the children's chapel. Following the service we have many opportunities for learning and companionship for children and adults. For adults we offer a Bible study class and a Contemporary Issues class. These both meet after the church service at 11:15 on Sundays. The bible study class uses The Present World Bible study series to explore the Bible. Here we reflect on biblical text and study the life of Christ. Pamela Kerns Christian Ed. director The Contemporary Issues class invites speakers to come and discuss issues that are relevant to the times and important to our wider community. The issues range from happenings at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church to local issues here in Wilkes-Barre. Our children's classes also meet after services on Sunday. We offer classes for preschoolers through high school. Here the children have more of a hands on approach to learning about the bible. Sunday evenings we offer Youth Fellowship for youth in 6th through 12th grade. These children enjoy time together while doing service projects, learning about themselves and others, and serving the Church. The children enjoy many trips such as skiing, amusement parks, rafting, and sight seeing. A group of these youth and adults spend a week each summer doing a work trip for habitat for humanity or other service agencies. Once a month we offer a Kids Club for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. We usually meet on Friday evening and spend our time learning about life in Jesus' time. This group also enjoys such activities as roller skating, hay rides, and movies. We also have active children and youth choirs which practice weekly and sing in our Sunday service twice a month. the children also perform at our annual Christmas pageant and various dinners throughout the year. All are welcome to join us in any of our activities. if you would like more information please call Pam Kerns at 570-824-2478
